It’s the biggest no-contest since Ingemar Johansson knocked out heavyweight champ Floyd Patterson in 1959! Ever since the first issue of Sonic hit the streets in November 2000, we’ve been the leading Swedish music magazine – with a readership that’s spreading like wildfire through our neighbourhood countries of Norway,Denmark, and Finland.

The recipe’s been the same right from the start: quality music writing, executed with passion and style. Weighing in at 100 pages or more five times every year, Sonic is loaded with fascinating articles, penetrating essays, and more record reviews than you can shake a crooked stick at. Always in full-colour, the square-bound mag is jammed with exclusive photos and the most well-researched – and entertaining – music writing to be found anywhere. And, for everyone on Sonic’s bulging list of subscribers, a free compilation CD, with the best new music from all four corners of the globe, selected by the Sonic staff, accompanies each issue.

We haven’t grilled all our musical heroes yet, but Sonic has already published unique, face-to-face features on headline-grabbing acts like Bruce Springsteen, Morrissey, Jay-Z, R. Kelly, R.E.M., Al Green, David Bowie, Destiny’s Child, Mick Jagger, Aaliyah and George Michael.

But we only talk to musicians we love and respect. We care more about quality than chart success. So we’re just as proud that we’ve also done major features on Bright Eyes, T.O.K., 50 Cent, The Hives, and Dizzee Rascal, early in their careers – pieces which have created a buzz for these acts everywhere our magazine is read.

Since Sonic is a Swedish music magazine, we naturally give special attention to the Swedish music scene. Our big splashes on domestic stars Kent and Broder Daniel are already considered modern classics. And we always keep our ears open for new talent. In each issue, and on every CD, we try to include at least one new, unsigned act we’ve fallen in love with, many of whom have moved on to record deals and larger audiences.
